Our Wolfhound Logan Murphy is a real homebody, except when its market day, then there is no holding back. He supervises in the greenhouse, in the office, the laundry and in the kitchen. Today we made tortillas from scratch.
Tortillas are so easy to make with the very basic pantry ingredients. Make and eat straight away, or fill with beans, cheese and fresh veg for a perfect burrito, or freeze for later.
Here is a family favourite recipe and how to do. Try these, and you may never go buy store bought again!
Make 10 or more tortillas: 3 cups flour (we use wholemeal, or a combination of white/wholemeal)
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup oil (we use olive)
1 cup very hot water
Mix together and make a log roll. Cut into 9-10 pieces. Knead each portion lightly and rest a few minutes.
Start rolling, adding a little extra flour as needed.
Roll to about 23 cm across.
Heat up the fry pan, no oil. Medium heat.
Start cooking; first side until small bubbles form on the dough, a few minutes.
Flip and cook briefly.
Keep warm in a tea towel.
Fill with favourite fillings, roll and Eat!
ENJOY!!
